What is MMS?
Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is a standard in telco delivered mobile messaging where you can include text, sound, images and video. This provides a more interactive and eye catching experience for the user and the visual content displays and plays within the recipients SMS application standing out from all other SMS (text only) content and messages.

How does an MMS display?
Unlike any standard text based message, an MMS displays the creative in the SMS app on a users phone. This has the distinct benefit of being eye-catching, and standing out from all other text only messages.
In addition to that, an MMS 'Previews' on a users phone, again standing out from any text only based messages.

We recommend only to use vertical (portrait) or square images as nearly all modern device screens are vertically aligned.
Who does the Creative?
You are generally required to produce your own creative. If you do not have access to creative resources, we can provide quotes for you.
What sort of file formats are accepted?
The following are the most widely used file formats that we recommend to use for your MMS creative. These have historically shown the highest level of successful deliveries:
- .gif (including animated- recommended for best results)
NB: When using Photoshop etc for creative files, please remember to remove all meta data from you final creative.

What does it cost?
MMS is charged based on a combination of 2 things. Firstly the number of contacts you are looking to send to, and secondly the size of the creative file you want to send (in kb).

Where can I send to?
Is there an 'optimum' file size bracket?
The smaller the better as far as delivery is concerned - but of course small files can be limiting in what you can do. If your objectives permit, we recommend going at least below the 350kb bracket, and even down to the smallest bracket of 215kb. Not only have we seen good results at this level in the past, it keeps your costs down. And given most of the 'banners' and display ads you see online are sub 30kb, you can still achieve good creative results.
We recommend an image that is 640px by 1138px, or 1080px by 1920px, both have the same aspect ratio of 9:16. The images will be sized to meet the width of most screens.
We recommend either 480x720(tall), 480x640(tall), 640x640(square) 480x480(square) sizes depending on the amount of animation.

What is the maximum throughput?
Max 30,000 MMS per hour, or 500 per minute
What kind of reporting can we receive?
We can report back on which messages were received OK by the recipient's carrier, and which were not. Data can be provided as a CSV file export as required.
Do I get a test?
Yes, all MMS campaigns come with a test series to ensure you are happy with the delivery result before sending the full campaign. Please provide us with a list of test numbers to send to.
Who manages the campaign?
Given the inherent complexities of MMS in the background (each of the carriers have different ways of processing MMS), Burst SMS manages campaigns on your behalf to ensure a clean and successful campaign experience. For this reason we do not have the MMS functionality freely available on the platform.
What is the Lead Time for an MMS campaign?
Please allow a minimum of 48 hours lead time to allow for campaign set up and testing with respective carriers and test handsets.
Once final creative is received/agreed, you will need to nominate a time for testing. You will need to be available for a period of 10-15 minutes for the sign off process and then you will need to advise what time you would like your final campaign to be sent.
NB: Cannot nominate a time that is within 24 hrs of receiving the creative or sign off.
